DTM on TV – New partners to complement the proven ARD coverage

All lights switched to green all the remote controls to one: The motor-racing enthusiasts in Germany once again can watch the thrilling battle for the 2016 DTM title live and exclusively on the ARD station ‘Das Erste’ (The First).The races are covered live by dint of the highest technical effort and thanks to the most sophisticated HD technology, the coverage is turned into a close-range experience for the TV audience. And with immediate effect, the qualifying sessions will be covered live by the ARD channel ‘Einsfestival’. Enthralling motor racing, stunning overtaking manoeuvres, exciting moments and emotions galore – all that is provided by the ARD’s DTM coverage.

The ARD team around presenter Claus Lufen welcomes the TV audience on the DTM weekends and prepares the fans for the start of the races. Commentator Philipp Sohmer exclusively accompanies the races for ‘Das Erste’ on the microphone. And he again will be joined by former Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Director as expert. Before beginning to work for the Stuttgarters, Haug worked for many years as motor-racing journalist.

Top-class pictures, expertise and comprehensive information represent top priorities for the ARD’s DTM coverage. Thanks to top-class broadcasting technology, the ARD reporters have direct contact to the drivers and are able to capture the first emotions right after the races. Onboard cameras provide the audience with the drivers’ perspective, thus conveying the audience the full fascination of DTM racing. Interviews with drivers, Motorsport Directors and celebrities as well background features dealing with the private sphere of those involved in the series makes for an interesting glance behind the curtains.

Furthermore, sportschau.de and DTM.com stream booth the qualifying sessions and the races live. In addition, live ticker, live timing, data monitors and live on-board cameras in the vehicles provide the viewers with even more interesting information on the race action.

Up-to-date highlights at Sport1
The cooperation with German sports channel SPORT1 makes for an extended TV supply, this year. The station covers every race in an up-to-date one-hour FTA TV highlight show as well as delayed at the pay TV channel SPORT1+. The coverage will be accompanied by presenter Julia Josten and commentator Peter Kohl. Furthermore, numerous DTM videos will be available at SPORT1.de, via the SPORT1 App and at the social-media channels. In addition, SPORT1 is going to also cover the two DTM support series Porsche Carrera Cup and Audi Sport TT Cup live or in up-to-date highlights on FTA TV. And all the races also will be streamed live at SPORT1.de.

‘DTM-kompakt’ on n-tv
When the race weekend is over, on Sunday evening at 18:30hrs CEST (17:30hrs BST), n-tv will bring around-up of the DTM weekend. In the programme ‚DTM kompakt’, host Verena Wriedt will present all the highlights of the two races.
